Pakistan records only eight coronavirus deaths, 634 cases
As the coronavirus cases soared across the globe with the United States, Brazil and India recording well over 50,000 new infections and more than 1,000 deaths every day, Pakistan has apparently come out of the effects of the pandemic as it registered only eight Covid-19 deaths during the last 24 hours (Saturday).
According to the latest figures released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Sunday, 634 people were tested Covid positive during the last 24 hours taking the total number to 284,121.
Sindh is leading them all with 123,546 cases, Punjab 94,360, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 34,635, Islamabad 15,241, Balochistan 11,884, Gilgit Baltistan 2,321 and Azad Kashmir 2,134.
The total number of deaths has reached 6,082 with the addition of eight new ones. Of them, 2,262 died in Sindh with the addition of two new fatalities, 2,169 in Punjab with the addition of three new deaths, 1,230 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by adding two more. No fatality was reported from Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and Islamabad.
On Saturday, a total of 23,390 tests were conducted out of which only 634 people tested positive. Now, Pakistan left with only 17,791 total active Covid cases. As many as 10,001 tests were carried out in Sindh, 7,114 in Punjab, 2,314 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2,931 in Islamabad, 697 in Balochistan, 117 in Gilgit Baltistan and 216 in Azad Kashmir. So far Pakistan has conducted a total of 21,27,089 tests.
There was no patient on the ventilator in Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. Only 153 ventilators were occupied across Pakistan out of 1,859 allocated for Covid-19 patients.
