Heavy rain lashes Punjab cities including Lahore

Different parts of the Punjab, including Lahore, were lashed by heavy rain on Saturday, which rid the people of hot and muggy weather besides flooding roads and inundating low-lying areas, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

It was partly cloudy and humid in Lahore in the morning.

But dark clouds started massing in the afternoon and soon it started raining cats and dogs. 

There were reports of rain from different localities of the city, including Chowburji, Model Town, Muslim Town, The Mall, Secretariat, Mozang, Anarkali, Jail Road and Township.

The highest amount of rainfall, 68 millimeters, was recorded in Pani Wala Talab followed by Farrukhabad 61 millimeters, Lakshmi Chowk 60 millimeters, Chowk Nakhuda 41 millimeters, Allama Iqbal Town and Johar Town 20 millimeters each, Samanabad 19 millimeters, Nishtar Town 15 millimeters, Gulshan-e-Ravi 13 millimeters, Qartaba Chowk nine millimeters and Upper Mall seven millimeters.  

Rain turns Gujranwala into pool of water

Apart from that rain was also reported from Gujrat, Gujranwala and Shakargarh.

Heavy rain in and around Gujranwala inundated low-lying areas, creating great inconvenience for motorists. 

Although the rain lasted only a few minutes, it was still so heavy that almost the entire city was flooded.
