NEPRA notifies Rs4.74 increase in electricity tariff

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) notified Rs 4.74 increase in the electricity tariff on Thursday.
NEPRA has issued a notification to increase the price of electricity. The price of electricity was increased by Rs 4.74 per unit, is on account of fuel charges adjustment (FCA) for October 2021, said a notification by NEPRA.
According to the notification, additional charges will be levied on electricity consumers from December bills, the increase will not be applicable to the K-Electric consumers.
The price hike will impose an additional burden of over Rs 60 billion on consumers, including a 17% GST.
It is pertinent to mention that 10.98 billion units of electricity were sold during October.
Earlier this week, the regulatory authority notified another hike in the price of electricity for Karachi, increasing the rate by Rs3.75 per unit.
