Al Sharpton says Meghan was mistreated

February 9, 2023 01:52 AM

American civil rights activist Al Sharpton stated that the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle was treated differently because she was a black person working in an executive position. He also condemned the British presenter Jeremy Clarkson for a column in which he wrote that he dreamed of parading Meghan naked while people throw faeces.

Sharpton claimed that Meghan Markle was mistreated after her 'beautiful wedding' to Prince Harry because she was 'black and working in the C-suites.' In an interview, the reverend tried to defend Meghan and her husband Harry who are under fire only for claiming a fact that she did not receive the same support as other Royal family members just because she has a darker skin colour. Yet he did not specify the ones who mistreated her. It is unclear whom he says is treating Meghan, differently than the other Royal family members for her success.

Revered Sharpton also took the opportunity to bash the British TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson for his column in which he said he dreams of parading Meghan around naked as people throw faeces at her. Clarkson had however apologized for his remarks. Sharpton said that while Meghan's wedding to the Prince in 2018 seemed to be universally celebrated, she soon became subject to racism. He said that “I think when they were married it was a beautiful day, and people were celebrating how, you saw this woman of colour now in the Royal family, gospel songs [were] sung at the ceremony and the Queen sitting there. And the reaction was so, so much acrimony. And just looking to treat her differently. And people who, whether you were in the UK or around the world, are always treated differently. It was somebody black working in the C-suites for the first time and they treat you differently.” he said claiming that Markle was the first black person to hold an executive position in the Royal family.

Sharpton did not seem to accept Jeremy’s apology for his remarks and said that his article was “mean-spirited.”

The reverend said people can always apologize for things they have said 'but what makes you feel that you can say that in the first place? He said that he thinks that in many ways they exposed what was already there And then people try to blame Meghan for they are being exposed.
