Karak Jirga gives three-day deadline to armed groups to leave

Participants of Grand Peace Jirga in Karak on Sunday issued a three-day deadline to armed groups to leave the territory to avoid stern and decisive action, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a joint statement issued after conclusion of the Grand Jirga, they stated that the State should provide all necessary assistance and support to local police for decisive action against these armed groups.

The statement urged the government to grant authority to Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) to fight against terrorists.

Grand Jirga asked the government to ensure full implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) in this regard.

The Jirga said that strict action should be taken against Taliban without any discrimination, appealing the State to show seriousness for action against terrorists and identify their supporters and also impose their social boycott.

Prominent among those who participated in the Jirga were MNA Shahid Khattak, Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Major Sajjad Barkuwal, ex-Advisor on Department of Prisons Malik Qasim Khan, Provincial Joint Secretary JUI Malik Ammad Azam, ex-MNA Shamsur Rehman, ex-MPA Mehar Sultana advocate while hundreds of people  belonging to different political parties also attended the Grand Peace Jirga.
