Six die, many injured as Jhelum hotel collapses in explosions of gas cylinders

Jhelum police and Rescue 1122 personnel are busy rescuing people buried under the rubble.

Six people died and many sustained injuries after the building of a hotel collapses in explosions of gas cylinders on GT Road in Kala Gujran, Jhelum, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to rescue sources, over 20 people were buried under the rubble after gas cylinders exploded in the kitchen of the hotel.

According to Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Hassan Tariq, five bodies had been recovered and shifted to the Jhelum District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital along with the 10 injured.

He added that four to five people were still believed to be under the rubble and rescue efforts were underway to save them.

"The explosions took place at around 9:45 am today. The rescue teams immediately responded to the incident and initiated rescue efforts," he stated.
