Poliovirus confirmed in environmental samples from various districts

The spread of poliovirus in Pakistan increased as poliovirus was confirmed in environmental samples from different districts of the country, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
In this regard, the Pakistan Polio Eradication Program has issued a weekly report.
According to the report, poliovirus was confirmed in environmental samples from Gwadar, Kech, Khuzdar, and Qila Saifullah.
Moreover, environmental samples from Naseerabad, Quetta, Usta Muhammad, Karachi East, and Karachi South tested positive for polio.
Poliovirus was also confirmed in environmental samples from Abbottabad, Bannu, Tank, and Sargodha.
According to National Emergency Operation Center officials, as many as 49 sewage samples were collected from 44 districts across the country. 
Environmental samples were collected from all districts between March 10 and 18. 
Poliovirus was not confirmed in environmental samples from Islamabad, Lahore, Attock, Mianwali, Mansehra, Sahiwal, and Okara.
The polio campaign will continue in 59 UCs of Karachi from March 10 to 16.
