Happy Mother’s Day was celebrated across the country on Sunday, May 9 to honour mothers and their precious role in our lives, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Mother’s Day is celebrated every second Sunday of the month of May in almost 50 countries including Pakistan. The day found its origin in the US when a woman named Anna Jarvis wanted the day to be celebrated in honour of her own mother who expressed such a desire.

In Pakistan people celebrated this day with reverence by giving gifts to their mothers, extending to them good wishes and sending cards, flowers and cakes.

Mother’s love is priceless and nothing could replace her love in the life of a child. Her sacrifices, selflessness, patience and dedication to her offspring are unmatchable and priceless.

Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar in his mother’s day message said love for mothers is a common sentiment which should not be confined to only one day. Every day is filled with mother’s love, he maintained.

He said Allah has placed heaven under the feet of mother, so Allah commands us to show utmost respect to her. He paid tribute to those mothers whose sons have been martyred while defending the country.  He said it was due to his mother’s prayers that he became CM. 

PML-Q leaders Moonis Elahi and MNA Salik Hussain also paid tribute to all the mothers on this occasion.

Former skipper Rashid Latif said there is no substitute for mother. She is responsible for the upbringing of not only one person but the whole generation, he added.
