Weekend rains in country to bring chill 

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast the rainfall on coming Saturday and Sunday in the Potohar region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern areas which will drop the mercury from 2 to 3 degree centigrade, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Pakistan Met Office forecasted: “Rain-thunderstorm (with snowfall over hills) is expected at few places in Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir, while at isolated places in north Balochistan. Shallow Foggy/smoggy conditions are expected in few plain areas of Punjab during morning hours on Saturday and Sunday.”

According to the met office, drizzling is also expected in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Sargodha and Faisalabad.

Dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country, the TV channel reported. 

Pak Met Office Director Khalid Malik said with the expected rains, the mercury will decrease from 2 to 3 degree centigrade.

November is the driest month of the year, daily area average rainfall is about 0.6mm/day while climatology of maximum daily rainfall is around 1mm/day and 10 mm/month respectively. 

In November, upper parts of the country received good rains; however, in central and lower parts a very few spells of rainfall has been observed.

According to the PMD report on 'Outlook for Winter Precipitation 2019-20, the winter rainfall is expected to be above normal between December 2019 and February 2020 embedded with few heavy snowfall events in most of the north western and upper parts of the country.
