Imran Khan is afraid of going to Jail: Memon

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said Imran Khan is merely hurling threats and is afraid of going to jail, 24NewsHD TV Channel.

Addressing a press conference Friday, the minister gave details of losses in recent rains and informed that 616 people had died and 11563 people were injured in the rain and flood-related incidents across the province.  He said 1.6 lakh houses were damaged while more than 6.8 million people were displaced and 4.4 million acres of agricultural land had been destroyed in the province.

Sindh Information Minister said that the Monsoon season in Pakistan, like in other countries in the region, usually results in heavy rains, but this year has been the wettest since 1961. There are unusual rains in this monsoon as 308 percent more than the average rains are recorded in July. Against the floods of 2010, the monsoon 2022 has severely affected all 30 districts of the province, he added, he added.

He said that the inundation of entire Katcha areas made thousands of families homeless.

Memon said, that according to preliminary estimates, a total loss of Rs 860 billion had been inflicted due to the devastation of the rains.

Sindh government was striving for rehabilitation and relief of the flood victims and rescuing the flood victims was its top priority, he maintained, adding that about 2000 relief camps have been established for the victims in the affected districts of the province.

Memon said that rations, tents and other necessary items are being provided to the victims through NDMA and PDM. While medical teams are also present in the affected areas offering healthcare facilities to the flood survivors, he informed.

In response to a question, Sharjeel Memon said that everyone is helping the flood victims while Imran Khan is busy rescuing Farah Gogi from her corruption cases.

Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Memon further said that with the help of the Sindh government and the Pakistan Army, all resources are being utilized for the drainage of water.
