New digital rules set to transform Punjab's housing schemes

The Punjab government has announced plans to implement new laws governing housing societies across the province, including Lahore, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

According to the TV channel report, under the new rules, housing schemes will be required to provide access to digital revenue records.

The approval and no-objection certificate process for private housing schemes will also have to be digitised.

The registration of property dealers and advertisements for housing schemes will be monitored under the new system.

The government will also introduce third-party verification of development costs to improve oversight and transparency in housing projects.

A procedure will be developed for the regularisation of illegal housing schemes, while strict action will be taken against anyone found violating the new laws.

The Punjab Central Business District Authority, meanwhile, has denied the existence of any illegal housing scheme.
