Charity food served to National Junior Hockey Championship players
Provision of charity food to players participating in Under-18 Hockey Championship in Islamabad has been revealed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
It was revealed that the organizers were giving food to players provided by a private trust in Islamabad.
Pakistan hockey lovers demanded Ad-hoc President PHF Mohiuddin Wani to investigate the matter.
The matter provision of charity food to players in hostels is a question mark on Pakistan Sports Board's role which claimed welfare of players.
Such arrangements on the sports field are called shameful and players protested and raised slogans against the organizers for providing substandard food.
On the other hand, participation of over-aged players in the Under-18 Hockey Championship also surfaced.
According to sources, the over-aged participation of players has raised question marks over the future of the national game.
Objections have also been raised over the scrutiny of players in the Under-18 Junior Championship.
Players who played in the National Junior Hockey Championship six years ago are still playing as juniors.
Over-aged players are playing in the teams of KP and Punjab.
Over-aged players are part of the championship with the connivance of coaches and tournament officials.
The Under-18 Junior Hockey Championship is underway at the Naseer Banda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad and16 teams are participating in the tournament, which has been divided into four groups.
