Mehwish Hayat’s honest yet encouraging verdict wins ‘Pakistan’s Got Talent’ fans
Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat has received appreciation online for proving that a rejection does not have to be discouraging. Her thoughtful feedback to a contestant on Pakistan’s Got Talent has resonated with viewers, who praised the actress for delivering an honest verdict without undermining the performer’s confidence.
A viral clip from the Geo Entertainment reality show showed a contestant presenting a combination of classical and Sufi dance before the judges. However, despite his graceful movements and visible potential, the panel felt he needed further preparation before competing at the level expected on the show.
The judging panel features singer Ali Zafar, comedian Tabish Hashmi, business executive Usman Bashir, and actress Mehwish Hayat.
While giving her verdict, Mehwish acknowledged the contestant’s effort before explaining why she could not recommend him for the next stage.
She said: “You performed well, but you need training for this genre. Your hand movements did not have the finesse that I would expect in classical and Sufi dance. There was a lot of potential and some very graceful movements, but for a platform like Pakistan’s Got Talent, a certain level of preparation is required, and I felt that was missing.”
Rather than simply turning him down, Mehwish encouraged the contestant to continue working on his craft and seek professional training. Her measured approach allowed her to point out his shortcomings while still recognizing the qualities that could help him grow as a performer.
The actress's response quickly caught the attention of social media users, who appreciated the balance between honesty and encouragement.
One user commented: “He danced well but needs more practice, and Mehwish handled it like a professional.”
Another wrote, “Well said.”
A third added, “Mehwish handled it well, like a professional.”
Pakistan’s Got Talent is the Pakistani adaptation of the internationally recognized Got Talent reality format, giving performers from different backgrounds an opportunity to showcase their abilities before a celebrity judging panel. The show features a wide range of acts, making judges' feedback an important part of helping contestants understand where they need to improve.
