The American currency has gained Rs25.72 during the last seven months as the greenback was at Rs152.28 on May 21, 2021.
Economic experts are of the view that the expensive dollar is costing Pakistan to pay more for the imports and it also has added over Rs3,000 billion to the country's external debts.
The rupee was expected to perform strongly after Pakistan had received $3 billion from the Saudi government over the weekend.
