PFF seeks FIFA support to boost football infrastructure

The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) is turning to FIFA for infrastructure support to develop football in the country, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.

PFF President Syed Mohsen Gilani said the focus is on attracting foreign investment rather than burdening the government.

Two mini-pitches have arrived in Islamabad and Lahore, and the AFC will provide two additional training pitches.

Gilani noted that Jinnah Stadium fails to meet AFC standards, stressing the need for international-standard stadiums to host matches.

Plans include building Pakistan’s first FIFA-backed stadium and launching district, provincial, and national leagues, including a women’s league, with aspirations to emulate the Pakistan Super League.

The PFF will also collaborate with UN Youth and the Prime Minister’s Youth Program to promote youth mental health through football and introduce the "Football for Schools" initiative to identify talent early. Over 1,000 footballs will be distributed to schools, and school football will be revived.

Gilani praised the PCB and received support from its Chairman, Syed Mohsin Naqvi, emphasizing collaboration between cricket and football to strengthen both sports in Pakistan.
