A man killed his daughter and a young man in the name of Karo-kari in Jamao Khan Mehr area of Town Rustam in Shikarpur, Sindh, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

Police said that accused Abdul Hakeem Mehr committed double murder of his own daughter and her presumed lover in the vicinity of Rutam police station. The father put the poor souls to death accusing them of involving in an illicit relationship.

After killing them, accused Mehr managed to flee.

The slain couple was identified as Hafeeza Mehr and Sachal Mehr.

Police shifted the bodies to the Tehsil Hospital, Khanpur for post mortem.

During the past 24 hours, four persons were killed in two separate incidents. While as many as 50 people were sacrificed at the altar of Karo-kari and clan disputes in the province during last month.

Karo-kari is an intentional honour killing which has its roots in tribal areas of Sindh. The homicidal acts are usually committed against women who are thought to have brought dishonour to their family by engaging in illicit pre-marital or extra-marital relations.
