Ziarat sit-in ends after successful talks between CM Bugti, protesters

The Ziarat protest committee and the families of the victims have announced the end of their sit-in after successful negotiations with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti.

The 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday that Chief Minister Bugti met the protest committee near BA Mall in Ziarat.

Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Senator Manzoor Kakar and Commissioner Shahzaib Kakar also attended the meeting alongside the chief minister.

Following the discussions, the protest committee and the victims’ families agreed to end the sit-in at the request of the chief minister.

Addressing the protesters, CM Bugti said he had remained in contact with the protest committee since the first day of the demonstration.

He said he had long-standing ties and friendship with the protesters and their elders, adding that those relationships would continue.

The chief minister said he had always stood with the people and would continue to do so. He added that if his government had made any mistakes, it would acknowledge them.

Bugti said his doors would always remain open to the people of Balochistan.

He added that important decisions had been taken in the presence of the prime minister and the field marshal and pledged to implement every commitment made in his capacity as chief minister and chief of the Bugti tribe.

He assured the protesters that the families of those who lost their lives would receive financial compensation. He also promised employment opportunities for the heirs and educational support for their children.

The chief minister told the gathering that they were patriotic citizens and said it was the shared responsibility of everyone to defeat any conspiracy against the country and the province.
