PIA plane returns with 1m Chinese vaccine jabs

To curb the coronavirus in the country, Pakistan boosted up efforts to import anti-corona vaccines and a plane of PIA with one million doses successfully returned from China on Sunday.
According to 24NewsHD TV Channel, Pakistan had sent a special flight PK 6852 of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) to China for importing Chinese vaccine named Sinovac.
Already six special flights of the PIA had arrived in Pakistan carrying millions of vaccines that are being provided to citizens of different ages free of cost. Pakistan has already administered at least 3.32 million doses of COVID vaccines so far.
According to National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 10.19 million doses of different vaccines including Sinopharm, Sinovac, and CanSino have been received in the country.
As per details, 1.23 million doses of AstraZeneca were received on Saturday in Islamabad. More than a million doses of Sinovac will arrive on May 13 and 15 while another 1.5 million doses of the same vaccine are expected by the end of May 2021.
According to the adviser to the PM on health affairs Dr. Faisal Sultan, Pakistan was set to receive another 13.2 million doses of coronavirus vaccine by the end of June.
He said that 90 percent of these doses have been purchased, whereas the remaining donated. The country, he added, has placed orders for a total of 30 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, including the 13.2 million, to different companies.
