Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi presided over an emergency meeting in the wake of the situation that emerged after the arrest of ex-PM Imran Khan.

The meeting mulled over measures to cope with the situation. The participants of the meeting decided to continue a ‘peaceful’ protest till the release of the party chairman.

The PTI decided to challenge the high court decision in the Supreme Court. The party members will reach the judicial complex in the federal capital tomorrow.

Earlier in the day, Imran Khan was arrested from outside Islamabad High Court in connection with a NAB reference.

The former prime minister was taken into custody in the Al-Qadir Trust case from the IHC where he went to seek bail in multiple FIRs registered against him.

His supporters took to the streets to vent their spleen on the call of the leadership moments after the arrest. The PTI supporters and activists blocked several roads in major cities across the country.

Angry protesters reportedly damaged public property and went for violence. The authorities vowed to take strong action against the troublemaker.
