Jail trial of PTI founder and his wife in Toshakhana-II case adjourned

The hearing of the Toshakhana-II reference against PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi was held within Adiala Jail on Wednesday, with the special court subsequently adjourning the case until September 12, 24NewsHD TV reported on Wednesday.

The proceedings were presided over by Special Judge Central Islamabad, Shah Rukh Arjumand.

On behalf of the accused, senior lawyers Salman Safdar, Zaheer Abbas, Usman Gul, Arshad Tabrez, and Qousain Faisal Mufti appeared, while the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was represented by special public prosecutors Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi and Umair Majid Malik.

During the hearing, the prosecution presented its 16th witness, Sohaib Abbasi, a private appraiser who has turned approver in the case. His testimony was officially recorded.

The court also completed the cross-examination by Bushra Bibi’s counsel on the statement of the former prime minister’s personal secretary, Inam Shah.

On the next hearing, scheduled for Friday, September 12, the defence counsel for the PTI founding chairman, Qausain Faisal Mufti, will conduct the cross-examination of Inam Shah.

Both the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi were produced from jail before the special court during the proceedings.

The courtroom witnessed the presence of family members, including the PTI founder’s three sisters, Bushra Bibi’s sister-in-law, her daughter, and a young child, who came to observe the trial.
