Pakistan to launch nationwide cervical cancer vaccination drive from Sept 15 to 27

Pakistan is set to launch a nationwide cervical cancer vaccination campaign from September 15 to 27, 2025, following the completion of vaccine supplies from the United Nations, 24NewsHD TV reported on Wednesday. 

According to official sources, Pakistan has received the final consignment of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, ensuring adequate stock for the upcoming drive.

UNICEF has provided Pakistan with 13 million doses of the HPV vaccine, along with 0.3ml syringes in the same quantity, to support the vaccination process.

The combined value of the supplied vaccines and syringes is estimated at Rs 10 billion.

The vaccination campaign will cover Punjab, Sindh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Islamabad, with the focus on girls aged 9 to 14 years, who will each receive a single dose of the HPV vaccine.

Health department teams will administer the vaccine in both government and private schools to maximize outreach and ensure effective coverage.

Officials emphasized that the drive marks a significant step in Pakistan’s efforts to prevent cervical cancer, which is largely caused by HPV infection.

With the support of the international community, particularly UNICEF, the initiative is expected to play a crucial role in safeguarding the health of millions of young girls across the country.
