The mystery surrounding the deaths of two girls at the Township police station in Lahore has not been resolved even after the post-mortem report, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

Sources told the 24News TV channel that now the forensic report would determine the cause of their deaths as samples had been sent to the Forensic Science Authority.

A medical board of Mian Munshi Hospital had conducted the post-mortem of the two girls on the instructions of a court.

Police, on the other hand, had claimed that the two girls had died because of an overdose.

Six days ago, two girls, suspected of stealing a small amount of cash and gold jewellery from a house, died in police custody under mysterious circumstances.

They were brought to the Township police station when a local resident accused them of stealing money and gold ornaments from his house.

As per initial reports, the health condition of both girls worsened in police custody owing to reasons yet to be ascertained.

The suspects were shifted to different hospitals, where doctors declared them “received dead.”
