Pakistan and the United States (US) have agreed to a new five-year accord for higher education and research, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

As per the Ministry of Education, this Fulbright Education Agreement will take effect from 2026 and will last until 2031. This agreement will enable 66 Pakistanis to avail scholarships for PhD.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) will provide $4.54 million for this programme, and a total of Rs6.48 billion will be spent on the programme during five years.

Only those candidates who qualify purely on merit will be eligible for the scholarship programme, not on a quota basis. The programme will be reviewed and scrutinized every year.
