NDMA warns of heavy rains, land sliding in northern areas, Kashmir 

Amid predictions of heavy rains, the National Disaster Management (NDMA) has issued a warning to the public and passengers, alerting them to the risk of landslides in Pakistan’s northern areas and Kashmir, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel. 

According to the NDMA, landslides are expected in various areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir due to anticipated rainfall. 

There is a risk of landslides in Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Astore, Diamer, Ghanche, and Shigar.Heavy rainfall may also trigger landslides in Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Haveli, and Bagh.

In Upper Kohistan (RD 200–240), there is a danger of landslides. Areas between Diamer and Astore (340–380) may also be affected. There is a risk of landslides and mudslides on Gilgit Road (400) and Nagar Road (460).

Many points along the Karakoram Highway (KKH) are also at risk of landslides. The Jaglot–Skardu Road (JSR), especially in areas near Rondo, is likely to be affected as well.

The local administration and relevant departments have been instructed to keep machinery ready for the immediate restoration of roads affected by possible landslides.

All concerned authorities must take precautionary measures in advance to deal with any potential emergency.
