Inflation hits 24pc in last week

Seems as if the government is powerless as the overall weekly inflation in the country soared to 23.98 per cent, data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Saturday.
According to the report, the masses have been left alone at the mercy of inflation’s ghost as in one week, 33 essentials became expensive.
The prices of petroleum (POL) products have increased by 30 per cent.
In vegetables, the price of potatoes in vegetables has increased by Rs3.10 per kg.
The price of tomatoes has gone up by more than Rs4 per kg.
The price of branded ghee has been increased by Rs28 per kg and cooking oil by Rs38 (five kg).
Pulses, salt, beef, mutton, sugar, onions, and milk also became expensive.
During the week, prices of five items decreased and prices of 13 items remained unchanged.
