Khawar Maneka, former husband of Bushra Bibi, who is presently married to former prime minister and ex-PTI chairman Imran Khan, on Monday said categorically that the nature of case of Bushra’s nikah with Imran during the period of Iddat was not a political one, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Speaking to a private news channel in Islamabad, he said Bushra’s nikah with Imran ruined his family life. “That is why I had to come to the court,” he added.  

He said initially it was not in his knowledge that she had secretly married the former prime minister. “Contracting marriage without making it public is against Islamic Shariah. I and everybody in my family are worried because of that,” Maneka said.

Replying to a question whether his servant Muhammad Latif told him about that, he said what else a servant could do except giving a hint. “Of course, he cannot say it aloud.”

Maneka disclosed that his children were not aware that he had divorced their mother. “Not only that, they are also completely in the dark about the marriage of their mother with Imran,” he said, and added, “They are not even willing to believe that both are now husband and wife.”

He revealed that it was only when he came to the court that he saw the nikah nama of Bushra and Imran. “Later after returning from the court, I told my children that their mother had married Imran. I told them that both had contracted marriage on January 1, 2018.”

Maneka said that his children were in pain for the last five years. He said he did not know Imran.
