PM aide questions sugar panel probe report
Abdul Razak Dawood, Adviser on Commerce and Investment has questioned the findings of a commission constituted to dig into sugar crisis, 24NewsHD reported on Wednesday.
In an exclusive conversation, he said the probe penal has no idea of sugar stock in the country.
He continued: “Import was not reason for sugar price hike and export decision was also right as the country had one million tonnes of sugar at that time. Just cartelisation is not behind the crisis.
"There are multiple reasons including increase in electricity tariff, fuel price and sales tax. For the first time, prices were raised immediately after harvesting,"
The country has stocks of sugar and wheat but scarcity issue is being created, he said adding that import is going to fix such issues once for all. The PM aide said Prime Minister Imran Khan issued directives to nab mafias and such actions take time.
