After retirement CJP’s pension, perks reached over Rs23 lakh in 2024: Law Ministry

The Ministry of Law and Justice has presented in Senate the detail of pension and other perks of Chief Justice of Pakistan after his retirement, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Tuesday. According to Ministry of Law and Justice, pension and perks have increased from Rs5,60,000 in 2010 to Rs 23,90,000 in 2024. 

Besides the pension, the judge's widow would get a driver, a cleaner, 2,000 units of electricity and free water and 300 liters fuel per month. The Law Ministry said that in 2010 the Chief Justice was receiving a pension of Rs560,000, in 2011, in 2012 it was Rs644,000, in 2013 the Chief Justice's pension increased to Rs850,000. 

The Ministry of Law, in 2014, the Chief Justice's pension was Rs935,000 in 2015, the Chief Justice's pension was Rs105,000 in 2016, the Chief Justice's pension was Rs11,50,000 in 2017, it was Rs12,17,000 while in 2018, the Chief Justice's pension was Rs13,38,000 and in 2021, the Chief Justice's pension reached Rs1452,000. 

The Law Ministry further said in 2023 the Chief Justice's pension increased to Rs16,57,000 and in 2024, the Chief Justice's pension and other perks touched record Rs23,90000.

The Law Ministry responded that the judge's widow would get a driver and a cleaner, the judge's widow also gets 2,000 units of electricity and free water, and the judge's widow is also given 300 liters of petrol per month, while income tax will not be collected from the judge's widow.

The Senate also received details of the pension given to the judge's widow.
