Rate of return on General Provident Fund decreased
The federal government has decreased the rate of return on the General Provident Fund (GP Fund) for the financial year 2025-26.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, the mark-up rate on GP Fund has been fixed at 12.05 percent.
The revised rate will be applicable from July 1, 2025, for the financial year 2025-26.
The government had fixed the GP Fund mark-up rate at 12.46 percent for the financial year 2024-25.
The latest decision represents a reduction of 0.41 percentage points in the return available to government employees on their GP Fund savings.
The General Provident Fund is a contributory savings scheme for government employees, with the annual rate of return determined by the federal government.
