As many as 30 poor couples tied the knot in Kandhkot on Tuesday at a mass ceremony organised under the auspices of District Usher and Zakat Committee, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

A large number of people, including PPP MNA Ehsanur Rehman Mazari, Ushar and Zakat Committee Sindh Chairman Justice (r) Ghulam Sarwar Korai and Deputy Commissioner Munawar Ali Mithani, attended the ceremony

Each bride was given Rs50,000 in dowry at a ceremony organised by Ushar and Zakat Committee Chairman Agha Shamsuddin Pathan at a marriage hall.

The speakers, in their speeches, said marrying off their daughter had become a burden on parents these days particularly due to unemployment and poverty, and that organising mass marriages was nothing less than a blessing.

In the end, lunch was also served to the guests.
