PML-N President and former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif has challenged the FIA’s money laundering probe in Lahore High Court (LHC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In the petition filed on Wednesday, Shehbaz Sharif urged the court to declare the FIA investigation as illegal and also quash FIR No 39/20.

Making NAB and FIA respondents, Shehbaz also urged the court to put a halt to the FIA inquiry until a decision on his petition.

In his application, the PML-N chief said the FIA’s started its probe with mala fide intention as he was interrogated in prison and not a single Benami account belonging to him was detected.

He said the money laundering case is being heard by the accountability court and it was not mentioned anywhere in the challan submitted by the FIA that telegraphic transfer has caused a loss to the national exchequer.

“There was no mention in the FIR about deceiving any private person,” he said and added “The FIA has kept pending the inquiry for 16 months with ill-intention.”
