JIT formed to probe murder of Ishal Fatima in Jhang

The Punjab government has constituted a joint investigation team (JIT) to investigate the murder case of first-year student Ishal Fatima in Jhang, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

According to details, the JIT is headed by Superintendent of Police (SP) Investigation Rehman Qadir, who also includes three deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), three station house officers (SHOs), and one investigator.

In addition to the murder, the case also includes rape and other charges. Four accused were nominated in the petition filed by the father of the victim.

The nominated accused are Khalilur Rehman, Haseeb, Umas, and Hassan. District Police Officer (DPO) Jhang Sajid Hussain assured the heirs of the victims that justice will be provided to them at any cost.

On June 7, 2026, information was received on 15 that a young girl had been admitted to a private hospital in a critical condition, while the people who brought her to the hospital fled the scene.

The 17-year-old girl was later identified as Ishal Fatima. Police arrested the suspects and also confiscated the vehicle in which they had dropped the victim off at a hospital.

A kidnapping case was already registered with the Satellite Town Police Station.

According to the statement of the main suspect, the girl’s health suddenly deteriorated, and she was shifted to the hospital for treatment. However, the investigation is underway to find out all the facts of the incident.

DPO Sajid Hussain said every aspect of the case was being examined carefully, and the evidence was being collected.

Sources revealed that after abduction, the girl was gang-raped by three suspects at the house of a relative of the main suspect, and she was administered ice, due to which her condition deteriorated. She was brought to the hospital in an unconscious condition.
