Switch to Windows App: Windows Remote Desktop App support ending from May 27

Microsoft has said that it will discontinue support for its Remote Desktop app for Windows on May 27. After this date, users will no longer be able to access Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, or Microsoft Dev Box using the outdated app.

To ensure a seamless experience, Microsoft is encouraging users to switch to the Windows App, a modern alternative that offers enhanced features such as multi-monitor support, dynamic display adjustments, and improved cloud PC access.

The transition comes as no surprise, as Microsoft introduced the Windows App in September 2024 as a successor to the legacy Remote Desktop tool. The company has made it clear that connections to cloud-based services via the old app will be completely blocked after the deadline, though it may still function for some local remote access.

 To prevent service disruptions, Microsoft advises users and businesses to move to the Windows App, which is readily available on the Microsoft Store and compatible with newer Windows versions.
