NAB closes illegal appointments case against Ch Parvez Elahi
The National Accountability Bureau Thursday decided to close an inquiry against Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Parvez Elahi related to the illegal appointments, reported 24News Channel.
The NAB approved the closure of the case of alleged 29 illegal appointments during the Ch Parvez Elahi’s tenure as Punjab Minister for Local Governments as no such evidence could be produced to support the allegation.
The decision was taken in the NAB’s executive board meeting that took place under its chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal in Islamabad.
NAB was investigating the corruption charges against Ch Parvez Elahi by alleged misuse of authority as Local Government Minister. Ch Parvez was remained Punjab’s Minister for Local Governments twice in 1988 and 1993.
The NAB was investigating of allegations of misuse of authority by Ch Parvez by using official letter pad to direct Secretary Local Government for illegal appointments of Grade 16 and Grade 17 Chief Officers and Account Officers in the department but no evidence could be found in this regard, prompting the NAB to close the case.
