The Grand Health Alliance (GHA) has refused to budge, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
They have been campaigning for better working conditions. The alliance has been holding a sit-in outside the Sindh Secretariat since Monday. Police used force to disperse the demonstrators.
The protesters were subjected to baton-charge and detention. However, authorities released woman detainees, but their leader Bushra Arain and male counterparts have not been set free.
To secure their release, the protester got into the police station and staged a demo. The protesting workers raised slogans against authorities and the police. They threatened to suspend the services in the hospitals across the province from Monday.
Footage on TV channels showed policemen manhandling the protesters and dragging them along the floor. Woman officers were also seen detaining female protesters.
Human rights groups felt strong concerns for the health workers and condemned police torture of the demonstrators. Showing solidarity with the health workers, the HRCP urged authorities to pay heed to the health workers’ demands.
