Mawra Hocane refuses to pick ‘number-driven’ dramas
Mawra Hocane has earned praise from fans and followers for her approach to storytelling.
The actress took to Instagram to share her perspective on how she chooses her projects, making it clear that ratings and numbers alone do not drive her decisions.
Mawra shared a picture inscribed with her statement: “If there’s a drama that promises numbers but will have zero impact, I would never pick it.”
The actress later expanded on her thoughts, adding context to her stance in an interview, where she described ratings as “temporary” and emphasized the importance of meaningful content.
“Context is everything,” she explained. “I was explicitly asked if I’d choose a drama with impact or numbers. Of course, I said impact – but honestly, the impact created is not my doing alone.
“It’s the genius of my directors, my writers, and producers. I can only pray and hope to get good scripts and the ability to make the right choices.”
Mawra acknowledged that not every project can achieve the same level of success as Jafaa, Nauroz, or Jama Taqseem, but she remains committed to authenticity and learning along the way.
“I’m sure I’ll make mistakes; I’m sure every drama won’t be Jama Taqseem or Nauroz, but I’ll try,” she continued. “And I also hope to do some fun projects while I’m at it. Never say never.”
However, the actress drew a firm line when it comes to compromising her values. “The only thing I’ll never do is a project that’s detrimental to society, a gender, or a class – that’s all,” she added.
