Financial crisis has gripped the Gomal University in Dera Ismael Khan as teachers, officials and employees on Wednesday gathered in Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan Auditorium of the university and protested against delay in the payment of their salaries, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing the protestors, the speakers demanded Prime Minister Imran Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister, the university vice-chancellor and former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan to do justice to them.
They said they were finding it quite hard to make their both ends meet.
Therefore, they added, they appealed to both the federal and KP governments to resolve their issue at the earliest.
The protestors said not only that their own future was at stake, but also of those students, both foreign and local, who were studying there.
They warned that in case their issue was not resolved, they would be left with no other option but to hold sit-ins in front of the Governor House, Chief Minister House and KP Assembly in Peshawar and the National Assembly and PTI chairman’s Bani Gala residence in Islamabad.
It is pertinent to mention here that the university, which is presently passing through a financial crisis, has failed to pay salaries to members of its staff on time for the last three months.
Besides that, last month in September, 2022, it had paid salaries to 60 per cent of its employees.
And despite the fact that today is October 12th, they are still waiting for the payment of their salaries.
