First case of dreaded Omicron variant confirmed in Pakistan

The first case of Omicron variant which a woman is carrying has been detected in Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The National Health Institute on Monday confirmed that a woman in Karachi who came from abroad was carrying the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV2.
The institute said coronavirus tests were being conducted on other suspected samples displaying the same symptoms of the Omicron variant.
A few days ago, the NHI received a sample of a coronavirus positive woman who came from abroad. After conducting the genome sequencing of the sample, it was confirmed that the woman was carrying the new variant of Covid-19 originated in South Africa and which is spreading across the globe at a fast pace.
The National Health Institute urged the people to follow the guidelines issued by the National Command and Operation Centre and get vaccinated as soon as possible.
