Ban on Qingqi routes challenged in SHC

Karachi Qingqi and Rickshaw Association has challenged the decision of the Sindh government regarding the ban on use of different routes in the Sindh High Court (SHC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the hearing of the case on Tuesday, Justice Yousaf Ali Saeed issued notices to the Sindh government and Qingqi and Rickshaw Association and sought a reply from them by February 8, 2026.

Advocate Qazi Abdul Majeed said that the decision of the Sindh government has already affected 60,000 Qingqi and rickshaw drivers who are facing a ban on using 26 important routes.

In the petition, the Association said that a ban on using routes was imposed without cancelling the route permits, and all Qingqi and ricksaw drivers have valid route permits.

It was also stated in the petition that cases are being registered against Qingqi and rickshaw drivers daily.

They appealed to the Sindh High Court to order the Sindh government to issue some Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Qingqi and rickshaw drivers and order the Sindh government to remove the ban immediately.
