Chaudhry Shujaat calls for consensus based solution to national issues

Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Sunday met newly elected Sindh President Asif Jamal and General Secretary Afaq Ahmed Khattak in Lahore and congratulated them on their unopposed election, reported 24NewsHD TV.

Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain was also present during the meeting where the political situation, party affairs and national issues were discussed.

He said PML-Q had played a historic role in the development of Sindh and in addressing its deprivations, while handing over the appointment notifications, he urged the newly elected provincial leadership to take both senior and new party workers along.

The PML-Q president said providing citizens with good governance, basic facilities and speedy justice was the responsibility of the state. He stressed that national matters should be addressed above political egos and through mutual consultation.

Speaking about the demand for new provinces, Chaudhry Shujaat said the creation of new provinces should be considered in the national interest rather than on the basis of political interests or temporary slogans. The issue should not become a source of political confrontation and must be decided through national consultation.

“The real question is which administrative system can provide greater convenience to the people,” he said, adding that effective, empowered and strong administrative units could help address administrative challenges.

He further said transferring powers to the grassroots level could help resolve public issues at their doorstep.

Chaudhry Salik Hussain said the party would extend every possible support to the new Sindh leadership in resolving the issues faced by workers and the people.

He said strong provinces, empowered institutions and satisfied citizens were the foundation of a strong Pakistan.

Asif Jamal said the new leadership would play its full role in making PML-Q a strong and effective political force in Sindh, while Afaq Ahmed Khattak pledged to live up to the trust placed in the party leadership and workers.
