A meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), held Thursday with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Rana Tanvir Hussain in the chair, sought the details of the broadsheet case from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
While giving answers put to him by the PAC about the NAB recoveries, NAB chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said that he would answer the questions wherever he was asked.
When Rana Tanvir Hussain questioned about the alleged political engineering, the NAB chairman said that it was the responsibility of the Parliament to improve the NAB laws.
He said that the NAB had ensured the recovery of Rs882 billion so far, adding that Rs25 billion had been distributed to as many as 178,000 calamity-hit people.
He also stated that the NAB had with it 20-year record of all the recoveries which the PAC members could closely scrutinise. “Not even a single penny was embezzled. All the record has been kept safe as a moneylender,” he maintained.
