FJMU commemorates 78th Independence Day of Pakistan, success of Operation Banyan-Ul-Marsus

Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU), Lahore, commemorated the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan and the grand success of Operation Banyan-Ul-Marsus with immense national pride and enthusiasm. The event was marked by a vibrant ceremony held in the university.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Provincial Health Ministers Mr. Khawaja Salman Rafique and Mr. Khawaja Imran Nazir, as Chief Guests. They were warmly welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor of FJMU, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, along with university faculty.

The ceremony started with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a Solemn Flag Hoisting Ceremony, symbolizing the spirit of unity and independence. Tributes were paid to the Security Forces and National Heroes, and a pledge was taken to continue striving for Pakistan’s progress and prosperity.

A key highlight of the event was the cutting of the Independence Day cake by the Vice-Chancellor and the Chief Guests, followed by special prayers for the security, development, and unity of the nation.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, in his address “August 14 is a profoundly special day for our beloved motherland. Freedom is a divine blessing, earned through immense sacrifices. The air we breathe freely today is the result of the tireless efforts and sacrifices of our forefathers and brave soldiers. Today, we pay tribute to them and reaffirm our commitment to serve Pakistan with dedication.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that today, the entire nation stands united in celebration of our freedom and identity. Freedom is a precious gift of Allah Almighty, and it is our responsibility to protect and honor it. We remember the countless sacrifices that led to the creation of Pakistan and salute the valiant soldiers guarding our borders.”

Minister for Health & Population Khawaja Imran Nazir added that the 78th Independence Day reminds us of our ancestors’ unwavering determination and sacrifice. August 14 is not just a day of celebration, it’s a day to renew our pledge for national progress. Our mission is to promote public service, uphold the rule of law, and ensure economic stability.”

Students of FJMU enhanced the patriotic fervour by performing national songs, reflecting the rich cultural and historical legacy of Pakistan. A guard of honour was also presented to the Provincial Ministers and the Vice-Chancellor, adding a ceremonial dignity to the proceedings.

The event was attended Notable Faculty including Principal Professor Abdul Hameed, Registrar Professor Muhammad Nadeem, Deans Professor Bilquis Shabbir, Professor Munazza Iqbal, Medical Superintendent Dr. Arif Iftikhar, other faculty members and a large number of enthusiastic students.
