M6 land corruption scandal: Ex-Mityari DC remand extended

A local anti-corruption court in Hyderabad on Wednesday extended the judicial remand of former Mityari deputy commissioner Adnan Rashid, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The former Mityari DC who was arrested in the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway M6 corruption case of Rs2 billion was presented before the court after completion of his remand. 

During the hearing, the court extended the judicial remand of Shahid for another 14 days and asked him to appear before the court on December 27. 

On Tuesday, the Sindh anti-corruption department declared assistant commissioner Mansoor Abbasi - who is in detention - a prime accused in the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway scandal.

Sindh ACD Chairman Nawaz Sheikh said that the signatures on the cheques used for the withdrawal of money were of assistant commissioner Mansoor. He said the department contacted Interpol and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for the arrest of other accused. He informed that Naushahro Feroze deputy commissioner was on the run and would soon be arrested through Interpol.

The chairman further said that Rs400 million were recovered so far. He said that a regional manager of a local bank was also arrested as well. He said that besides former Mityari deputy commissioner, six more people were arrested from Naushehro Feroze. 

He further revealed that no political personality were found involved in the scandal.
