15 file nomination papers for Senate elections from Punjab

Total 15 candidates have so far filed their nomination papers for 11 Senate seats from Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Saifullah Niazi and Jamshed Iqbal Cheema from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pervaiz Rashid, Mushahidullah Khan, Saif ul Malook Khokhar and Afnanullah from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have filed their nomination papers for the general seats.

Similarly, Kamil Ali Agha of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and Azeemul Haq Minhas of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have also filed their papers.

PML-N’s Azam Nazeer Tarar and PTI’s Barrister Ali Zafar have filed their nomination papers for two seats reserved for technocrats.

Saadia Abbasi of PML-N while Dr. Zarqa Taimur and Dr. Robina of PTI have applied for seats reserved for women.

The candidates for Senate elections also submitted their papers to the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) Lahore office on Sunday (February 14) since February 15 is the last date for the submission of papers.

According to the ECP, the scrutiny of nomination papers would be completed on February 17 and 18.

14 file nominations in Quetta:

Meanwhile, candidates for Senate elections from Balochistan also visited the ECP’s Quetta office on Sunday for the submission of their nomination papers.

On Saturday, 14 candidates from the province had filed their papers.

ECP says so far seven candidates have applied for general seats, two for the seats for technocrats, two for women seats and three for seats reserved for minorities.

The election commission’s entire staff is present at Quetta office on Sunday to receive the nomination papers.

28 nomination papers filed at ECP Peshawar:

Total 28 nomination papers have been filed by candidates for the Senate elections at the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) Peshawar office so far, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Three candidates filed four nomination papers at the election commission’s Peshawar office on Sunday (February 14) as the last date for the submission of papers is February 15.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) Daust Muhammad Mehsud filed nomination papers for a general seat as well as for the technocrat seat.

Similarly, Najeebullah Khattak, also from PTI, filed papers for a general seat.

Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Shazia Tehmas submitted her papers for the women’s seat.

20 candidates submit their papers in Karachi: 

Similarly, 20 candidates from Sindh have so far submitted their nomination papers for 11 Senate seats to the ECP’s Karachi office.

These are seven candidates of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and 13 candidates of Pakistan People’s Party who have filed their papers for Upper House’s general, women and technocrat seats.

PPP’s Saleem Mandviwalla, Sadiq Ali Memon, Sherry Rehman, Daust Ali Jaeser, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, Taj Haider and Shahadat Awan have filed their papers for general seats while Palwasha Khan, Rukhsana Shah and Khairun Nisa Mughul have applied for the women seats.

Farooq H. Naek, Shahadat Awan and Dr. Kareem Khawaja have submitted their nomination papers for the technocrat seats.

From MQM-P, those who have filed their papers include Faisal Subzwari, Rauf Siddiqui, Zafar Kamali, Syed Khizar Askar Zaidi, Khawaja Suhail Mansoor and Abdul Qadir, while Khalida Tayyab has submitted her papers for the women seat.
