The Islamabad High Court has said that somebody must be held responsible in the missing persons case observing that the matter has gone beyond the approach of forming committees believing that if the state is involved in it then it will be useless to give directions to it, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah was hearing petitions seeking recovery of Mudassar Naro and other missing persons on Monday. He ordered the missing persons commission to submit its report, besides directing the attorney general to present his final arguments by Feb 28.
During the hearing, the chief justice said that the court would announce verdict on the missing persons case. He said if the state was involved in snatching citizens, then it would do no good to give them directions. They would come to the court claiming they do not know who has whisked away a certain person, the judge said adding that the important thing to do now was to hold somebody responsible.
The CJ expressed his annoyance when the additional attorney general sought more time in the Maira Sajid case. He asked the commission to submit it report on forced disappearances in the next hearing.
