Cold wave persists in Pakistan as rain, snow forecast from Jan 16

At a time when the country is already in the grip of bitterly cold weather, the Met Office on Wednesday forecast another cold wave as westerly winds would enter the country’s upper areas from January 16, while three people were seriously wounded after three vehicles collided with each other in Mustafabad due to dense fog, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Under the impact of the system, the office said, rains would lash KP, Punjab and Sindh while there would be snow over the hills.

Cold, dry weather persists in Islamabad

Meanwhile, the weather in Islamabad remains dry and extremely cold.

The minimum temperature in the federal capital was recorded at 3 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature would touch the 16 degrees Celsius mark in the afternoon.

Punjab blanketed by fog 

On the other hand, the plains of Punjab, including Lahore, remained engulfed by fog on Wednesday as well forcing the authorities to close different sections of the motorway.

M-11, connecting Lahore to Sialkot, was closed for traffic.

Similarly, M-2 was also closed from Lahore to Kot Momin; M-3, from Faizpur to Darkhana, M-4, from Pindi Bhattian to Multan, and M-5, from Multan to Rohri.

Three injured in Mustafabad

Three people were seriously injured after three vehicles collided with each other at Lalyani Toll Plaza at Mustafabad due to dense fog.

Rescue 1122 teams immediately reached the spot and shifted the injured to a hospital.
