Opposition parties in Senate, including those part of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), went into a huddle on Monday with Leader of the Opposition in the House Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani in the chair to decide what should be their response to the federal budget for the financial year, 2021-22, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Azam Nazir Tarar, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Tahir Bizenjo, Sherry Rehman, Senator Dilawar Khan, Kuhda Babar, Irfan Siddiqui, Sadia Abbasi, Rana Maqbool, Sardar Shafiq Tareen and other senators attended the meeting.
Opposition leaders tried to thrash out a joint strategy with respect to the budget. They also discussed the proposals they had in their minds regarding the money bill.
Sources quoted Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Azam Nazir Tarar as saying that the party senators attended the meeting on the instructions of party’s high command.
Sources further quoted him as expressing the fear that if the opposition remained divided, the government would try to exploit these differences and easily get the budget passed.
