Floods kill another five in Pakistan: NDMA

Two children and a woman among dead: Flood disaster death toll reaches 1,486

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has stated that another five people were killed in flood-related incidents across the country, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

In the last 24 hours, two people died in Balochistan and three in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the NDMA reported, adding that two children and a woman are too among the dead. According to the authority, the flood disaster death toll reaches 1,486.

A total of 638 deaths were reported in Sindh, 305 in KP, 281 in Balochistan 191 in Punjab, 48 in AJK and 22 in GB, the report stated adding that 298 women and 530 children are among the dead. A total of 12 thousand 749 people were injured across the country since June 14.

In the last 24 hours, more than 5 thousand houses were damaged across the country.

The authority said 571,966 houses were destroyed completely more than 1.1 million partially.

In the last 24 hours, more than 300 kilometres of roads were reportedly damaged in Balochistan.

Nine lakh 18 thousand 473 cattle were lost, 390 bridges damaged and 81 districts were affected by the recent rains and floods

According to an alert, from September 18, the flow of water in the Sutlej, Ravi, and Chenab rivers and their adjacent channels of Punjab is expected to increase.

The advisory states that the flow of water in the Sutlej, Ravi, Chenab, and sewer lines may increase to a dangerous level.

The NDMA has directed that early warning should be given to the risk-prone areas.
