Sex crimes against women, children on the rise in Lahore

191 women and children subjected to sexual violence in last 92 days in city

Despite the introduction of women safety app and setting up of women protection centres across the country, the fair sex and children are still vulnerable at the hands of sex predators as in Lahore alone, 191 women and children were subjected to sexual violence in the last 92 days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday. 

The Lahore police have failed to arrest more than 100 accused involved in the sex crimes.

According to the police record, the cases of sex crime in Lahore are on the rise. As many as 132 cases of rape have been registered in 92 days in Lahore, out of which 18 cases are of gang rape. Forty-one rape cases of young girls and boys have been reported. 

Police have quashed 30 rape cases after conducting an inquiry into them, declaring them fake. Police also quashed 4 cases of gang rape. 

According to police annals, the Lahore police could not arrest 86 sex offenders and 14 accused of gang rape. While, 10 accused involved in child molestation cases are still at large. Police said they were trying to arrest them.
