PPP CEC meeting on Kabul situation tomorrow
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called a meeting of his party's central executive committee (CEC) in wake of the rapid changes in Afghanistan.
The meeting will also discuss the PPP position on the Afghan issue in the National Defence Committee and Pakistan's role in the political situation in Afghanistan. Reports said all the CEC members will join the meeting virtually.
With the announcement of a complete US troops pullout in April, the PPP leadership started raising its concerns over Taliban recapturing Kabul. The party head time and again said Pakistan will be at the receiving end.
"Pakistan will face a loss from the situation developing in Afghanistan and there will be a severe blowback," he told the media last month.
The PPP has been a victim of Taliban. Benazir Bhutto, the first woman prime minister of a Muslim state, embraced martyrdom on December 27, 2007 in a Taliban strike moments after she finished an election rally in Rawalpindi.
